Deborah is passionate about creating a sustainable future for generations to come. As Empower Me’s Communications Coordinator, she is responsible for overseeing all external and digital communications for Alberta and BC, as well as implementing sponsor and community partner messaging and strategies. Often viewed as a jack-of-all-trades, Deborah is also assisting with reaching out to municipal and provincial governments on behalf of Empower Me to investigate mutual opportunities to promote greenhouse gas reduction and provide energy efficiency education.
Deborah has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from University of Calgary. With her interests in politics, she worked on several campaigns in the past. She is also currently the Advocacy Manager for Engineers Without Borders Calgary Professional Chapter where she develops and implements engagement strategies on EWB objectives for elected officials .
Prior to joining Empower Me full-time, Deborah was an Energy Mentor where she was responsible for hosting and organizing workshops with community partners, and sharing energy saving messaging with members in multicultural communities. She was also an Interpreter for Calgary Catholic Immigrant Society where she provided translation and interpretation services in real time. She also worked as a Field Organizer for Calgary-Centre Constituency Association where she was responsible for engaging constituents on contemporary issues.
