As a Community Coordinator, Jaclyn has been responsible for growing Empower Me Alberta’s involvement and community partner base in Edmonton. From overseeing everyday operations to organizing and executing community events and engagement, she is responsible for building connections within Edmonton’s multilingual communities. As a newcomer herself, Jaclyn enjoys helping other newcomers settle into their new lives in Canada, and she believes that building communities and connections is the most impactful way to improve our environmental outcomes.
After moving to Canada in 2008, Jaclyn attended high school in Calgary and received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary. She was also an active volunteer with the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre where she was assisted teacher’s with Chinese school during evenings and weekends.
Before joining Empower Me full-time, Jaclyn was an Energy Mentor where she was responsible for educating Calgary’s Chinese community about energy efficiency and also assisted with translations during home assessments. Jaclyn also worked at CANWRX as an Immigration Coordinator where she helped Chinese newcomers with work permits, completing permanent residency immigration paperwork, and assisted with locating gainful employment.
